Outreach & Public Engagement
July 2025: GEO-REx High School Summer Camp - I supported field experiences for K–12 students who visited Oklahoma State University to learn about geoscience field methods and explore careers in the geosciences.
As part of the hands-on activities, I guided students in using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for subsurface utility detection, helping them understand how geophysical tools are applied in real-world scenarios.
The students also observed a live drilling demonstration, where a monitoring well was installed on site, giving them direct exposure to hydrogeological fieldwork and environmental monitoring practices.
January 2025: STEM Advocacy and Mentorship - As a volunteer judge for the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair, I contribute to the development of young scientists (K–12) by evaluating and providing constructive feedback on student research projects.
October 2024: Stakeholders and Researchers Engagement - I participated in a stakeholder visit to our Managed Aquifer Recharge site in South Central Oklahoma, where I engaged participants in discussions about the project’s goals and impact.
During the visit, we showcased some of the innovative investigations and techniques we are using to enhance groundwater recharge in the karst aquifer system.
July 2024: Hands-on Geophysics Training for Graduate Students -As a volunteer field equipment instructor at Oklahoma State University, I provided practical training to graduate students on the use of Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) for subsurface characterization.
I demonstrated how to operate the SuperSting resistivity meter for acquiring high-quality subsurface data and guided students through the field setup and data collection process.
2022-2023: Presenting to Stakeholders and Project Leaders - I presented and engaged stakeholders in discussions on optimizing recharge site selection using geophysical and hydrogeological data.
Also, I received valuable feedback that helped refine project priorities and align research goals with local water management strategies.
January 2021 - December 2022: Leadership in International Student Engagement and Mentorship - As Chair and member of the International Students’ Organization at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa, I played a key role in fostering a supportive academic and social environment for international students.
August 2018: Facilitating Knowledge Exchange at International Conferences - As a session facilitator at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) International Conference and Exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa.
August 2017: Organizing Professional Development and Outreach Programs - As an executive member of AAPG, I was responsible for organizing technical workshops, networking events, and outreach activities aimed at advancing geoscience education.
